Schools in India come under many categories, and follow the curriculum of the respective education board that they come under. The schools are run under the wings of many organization, both public and private. The central government and State governments have schools operating under their jurisdiction. There are also many schools which are governed by private bodies, and some by religious organizations. Although the boards and patterns differ widely, the syllabus and motive of all the examinations boards are quite alike.

Basic Overview
In India all the schools come under certain category and they function under some respective curriculum which is based on the respective Examination There are schools which are run by Government bodies either State or Central, Private bodies, Government aided schools but run by private bodies, schools run by religious institutions. All these examination boards are similar in their syllabuses but the pattern of imparting the education is different.

State Government schools are run by State Boards and they impart education at primary and secondary level. These schools are totally funded by State Government. Medium of Education is mainly local and education rate is low in rural Government school. They follow the State Boards in high probability.
Central Schools or Kendriya Vidyalaya are the schools where the wards of transferrable Central Government employees study. The curriculum is under Central Board of Secondary Education and they are from Kindergarten to Class 12. There are more than 1000 KVS in India and 3 in Nepal. There are some percentage reserved for Civilian other than the wads of Central Government employees and some percentage for other minority categories. These schools are funded by Union Government.
Private Schools are run by private bodies and they are not funded by Government bodies. They are administered by Private non-profit management organization. They can follow any Examination Boards which includes all State Boards, ICSE, CBSE and the International Boards. These schools are within the power of both State and Union Government as Education is one the key part of our Constitution. Medium of education is mainly English and education rate is comparatively high even if it is in a rural area.
Government Aided School are non-Government schools run by Private authorities with Government aid. These schools only receive fund from Government but no land at any subsidized rate. They can follow any Boards as per the choice of the School Trust or management.
Schools run by Religious Trust or Society around many parts of India are mainly private and they do not receive any Government aid. The children pays much less school fees compare to the Private school and the quality of education is much better than any school of the country. These schools follow any boards as per the decisions of the Trust or Society.
